The airport is named after Major General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka, and many people think the name should be different.
In an interview with Radio Gold, General Mosquito shared his thoughts on the issue. He said that Major General Kotoka did not help build the airport and it's not fair for the airport to have his name.
"Kotoka did a coup and overthrew Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who built the airport. He then changed the airport's name to his own. This is not right. Dr. Nkrumah did all the work, and Kotoka just took the credit," General Mosquito explained.
He also said that many governments have come and gone, but none have had the courage to change the name. "If it were up to me, the airport would have a different name by now," he added.
The debate about the airport's name has been going on for years. Some people think Major General Kotoka's name should not be honored because he was part of the coup that removed Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a beloved leader in Ghana. Those who want the name changed believe it would be a way to recognize Dr. Nkrumah's contributions and other important figures in Ghana's history.
General Mosquito's call for a name change might make more people and politicians talk about the issue. This could lead to more pressure on the government to take action. The outcome of this debate could affect how Ghana honors its historical figures and the values it wants to show.
